The Scottish Highland Tour 2017

April 29th/30th and May 1st & 2nd

The plan is to meet up as usual North of Carlisle at 08:45 prompt on Saturday morning. Away about 9.00am from the only services that were on the A74(North bound) (Now new bit of the M6) north of Carlisle. If you get as far as the M74 at Gretna you've gone too far. The services or Todhills Rest area as it's now called is now open as a Petrol Station {Shell} and a Costa Coffee, it's just after the old HGV weigh bridge on what was the A74M (ring me if you want suggestions for Friday night digs on 07768 405222). From the meeting point we'll take an interesting and complicated route up through the Scottish Borders before Crossing the Clyde around lunch time. Then it's over some stunning passes to our fantastic new Hotel overlooking the shores of the Loch. After a good meal and a wee drink (Always a good night) we'll rise the next morning to head up the West Coast via a spectacular route to Applecross. Here we will spend the next two nights giving us the opportunity to explore the North of Scotland, a trip to Skye, Cape Wrath, or Loch Ness, they are all within day-trip distance. We have already got permission to have a fire and party on the beech so whichever of the two nights has the best forecast will become our annual BTBC Beech Party (Very special weather permitting). Tuesday it's more gorgeous scenery as we take a different route south from Applecross eventually getting back to the Clyde before making the split for a dash home around mid day. This is a truly spectacular trip well worth the effort. It's always over booked and can only take a limited number due to the accommodation used. If you've done it before you know to be quick. If you’ve not done it before you should make an effort to be quicker still and secure your place on this fantastic tour. Most of the roads we use North of Glasgow are grin factor 9+. As always it is strictly first come first served with regard to rooms, so don't hang about.
